Overview

The Southerly 480 is a semi-bespoke bluewater cruiser built around the marque's signature variable-draft swing keel, lifting from full deep-water trim to a shoal draft of under a metre, so offshore performance and shallow-water freedom live in the same yacht. It is the advantage owners talk about first: the shallow waters and marinas of the Bahamas, the Caribbean and beyond, opened up by a keel that simply lifts.

Practical bluewater detailing runs throughout, an in-mast furling mainsail and self-tacking jib for short-handed ease, a raised saloon with commanding views, semi-balanced twin rudders and a central skeg protecting the propeller. A range of interior layouts tailors her to long-distance cruising.
