Excess is the catamaran marque created for sailors who actually want to sail. It was drawn to put the fun back into cruising multihulls: lighter, livelier and more engaging under way, without giving up the space and stability that draw people to two hulls in the first place.

Hanse builds on the Baltic coast at Greifswald, and in a single generation has grown from a start-up into one of the largest yacht builders in the world. Moody is one of the great names in British yachting, and its modern Decksaloon range is unlike anything else on the water. Cockpit and saloon sit on a single level, wrapped in glass, so life aboard flows without a step from helm to galley to lounge.

It is the ease of living you would expect from a catamaran, carried in a true bluewater monohull: a genuinely original answer to how a cruising yacht should be laid out.
