About this vessel
Baltic Trader 60
Reel Steel is a purpose built ocean crossing trawler, designed by Hakker and constructed in steel to genuine long range, bluewater standard. Launched in 2000 and having recently completed a full internal refit in June 2026, she presents as a true turn key live aboard or extended cruising vessel with the sea keeping confidence to match her striking presence. Fitted this year with steel batwing stabilisers, comfort at anchor and underway has been taken to another level, with dedicated electric winches raising and lowering the steel struts and plates to dramatically reduce roll in all conditions. Powered by a single Gardner 6LXTD 250hp turbo diesel, serviced in July 2026 with approximately 1900 hours on the clock, Reel Steel cruises comfortably at 8 knots with a top speed of 9 knots, burning just 18 litres per hour. This provides a range of over 3000 nautical miles. A backup three phase electric "get home" motor offers peace of mind offshore, capable of 5 knots independently of the main engine. With 7000 litres of fuel and 5500 litres of water on board, along with a 36kVA plus 8kVA genset arrangement, this is a vessel built for genuine range and self sufficiency. The interior offers a well thought out four cabin layout, ideal for families or extended cruising with guests, finished with tasteful use of timber throughout which complements the character of the vessel. The master cabin is positioned lower midship and provides a private retreat with a dedicated head and shower. The VIP cabin includes its own private aft terrace and en suite. A bunk room with two large bunks comfortably sleeps additional guests or children, with its own dedicated shower and head close by. Forward, in the bow of the vessel, a private cabin offers a quiet separate space, also serviced by its own shower and head. Sleeping up to 8 guests in total, every cabin enjoys direct access to its own bathroom facilities, a rare feature that adds real comfort for family or crewed cruising. The very well equipped L shaped galley sits open plan to the main saloon dining area, offering a spacious workspace and sink for food prep, a domestic electric oven with four burner gas stove, microwave, and LED countertop lighting. A large 500 litre dual door front opening fridge freezer sits in the galley, complemented by a chest freezer in the aft lazarette, ideal for extended trips. Two stainless electric water heaters service hot water throughout, and the main saloon includes a stereo system, TV, and reverse cycle air conditioning for year round comfort. What really sets Reel Steel apart is how effortless she is to live with. Everything on board has been considered with ease of operation in mind, so time on the water is spent enjoying the vessel rather than managing it. Navigation is handled by three 64 series Furuno chartplotter screens with rotatable control panels, a Furuno 64 mile radar, and Furuno autopilot, giving confident control whether coastal cruising or crossing open water. A Starlink Offshore panel fitted to the coachroof keeps you connected wherever you drop anchor. Power management is just as intuitive. The Victron Cerbo GX control centre with GX Touch 50 monitoring in the galley puts the entire electrical system, batteries, solar, and inverter at your fingertips, so keeping an eye on the boat's health becomes second nature rather than a chore. With 4 x 200w solar panels, a 5kW inverter, and dual shore power systems, Reel Steel is equally at home off grid for extended stretches or plugged in at the marina. On deck, the bow thruster, electric windlass, and electric powered mast and boom derrick make docking, anchoring, and launching toys a simple, one person job when needed. Reel Steel isn't just built to get you there, she's built to bring the fun with you. A large upper deck platform is dedicated exclusively to tender and toy storage, offering genuine flexibility for how you use the space. Run one tender off the stern and free up the platform for jet skis, foilboards, surfboards, and stand up paddleboards, whatever your crew is into, Reel Steel can accomodate. Two RIBs come standard, a 2.5m Aqua Marine and a 3.1m Southern Pacific with 15hp Yanmar outboard, both easily launched using the electric mast and boom derrick. She is, in short, the ultimate mothership live aboard, built to get you where you need to go with confidence, while bringing all the fun along with you. For buyers who appreciate the seamanship and internal build quality found in vessels like Nordhavn or Cheoy Lee, Reel Steel is well worth an inspection. The owner is open to considering property swaps or a smaller vessel swap plus cash. All enquiries welcome for a discussion.
Broker remarks
Reel Steel has undergone a beautful internal refit, completed in June 2026. She is a purpose built ocean crossing trawler, offering long range capability and genuine big sea confidence for serious offshore cruising. With her brand new interior spaces, Reel Steel feels less like a boat and more like a luxury villa or river cruise. A place to truly relax and unwind while underway or at anchor.
